As a binational non-profit, Via International has 45 years of experience working in and with communities in the San Diego border region, engaging volunteers in community-defined projects. Via can design just the right experience for your group, whether you are looking for an educational adventure, a team-building activity or a community service event.

Build-a-Beehive Project

An active and engaging educational group activity in support of community resiliency and the environment. Construct beehives from scratch and donate them to an apiary collective started by a group of low-income women in Mexicali. Learn about the importance of pollinators and how this activity has long term positive impacts for the community. This activity is appropriate for all ages and can accommodate groups of 20-200 people.

Mural Restoration

Become part of San Diego’s artistic history as your group works alongside San Diego-based artists to restore historic murals throughout San Diego. This activity has a dual purpose of community improvement and educational awareness, by sharing the history of our local mural tradition as an expression of culture and activism through the years. Appropriate for groups of 10-20 people aged 12 and above.

Binational Garden

Celebrate relationships of family and friendship that span and cross the international boundary through beautification along the U.S.-Mexico border. Look beyond the image of criminality and violence that is often portrayed about the busiest land crossing in the world, and get dirty with your group in the binational garden. This activity will include a tour of Border Field State Park and an educational overview of its history and significance. This is a physical activity appropriate for groups of 10-30 people.
